Why Fluoride Is In Our Drinking Water
I bet most people would label us here at Blinders as government bashers, conspiracy theorists, paranoid whack jobs, domestic terrorists, or whatever. Today I will shatter that stereotype. Sure, our government has done some morally dubious things in its history, but we never give them credit for the many graces they bestow upon America’s citizens.
There is one thing in particular that they have not dropped the ball on for over sixty years, and I want to give credit where credit is due. Out of genuine concern for the health and well-being of its citizens, our government has been keeping America’s public water systems stocked with a healthy helping of wholesome, nutritious fluoride.
I feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that my government cares enough about my health and yours that they would fortify our drinking water with such an essential nutrient as fluoride, and without us even having to ask for it. They always know what is best for us before we even have a clue.
Just think what our state of health might be today if it were not for the benevolence and foresight of our federal government in taking such preventative measures as this. There are not enough dentists in the world to deploy against the cavity epidemic that would surely ensue.
The sarcasm ends here. The federal government has implemented the flouridation of America’s public drinking water since the 1940s, ostensibly to curb the prevalence of maladies of oral hygiene. The studies done to support mandatory public water flouridation in America are dubious and unsound. One study was done on children in an area where the water was naturally fluoridated, and it was found that these children had less cases of tooth decay than the national average. This small area represents the entire nation I guess.
Another study was performed in 1939 by Gerald L. Cox. At the time he was employed by American Aluminum Company, then the world’s largest producer of sodium fluoride, and toxic fluoride waste. Cox introduced flouride to some lab rats and surmised that flouride helps cavities, and declared that it should be put into the country’s water supply. This was made a reality in 1947 when Oscar R. Ewing was appointed head of the Federal Security Agency, which made him in charge of the Public Health Service. Ewing was a long-time lawyer for the American Aluminum Company.
In more modern times, more proper scientific study has shown that fluoridating water has no effect on reducing cavities or tooth decay. Furthermore, fluoride has been conclusively linked to such varied ailments as increased bone fractures, dental and skeletal fluorosis, goiter, learning and behavioral problems in children, impotence and male infertility, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease. A damning study performed by Dr. Phyllis Mullenix helped to blow the lid off the fluoride hoax.
This study was among the largest involving the introduction of fluoride to lab animals. The behaviors of the animals were modeled by computers, making the study completely objective, and the results were consistent among the over 500 animals she tested. She found that the offspring of animals that were given fluoride were always hyperactive, and that animals given fluoride after birth were always lethargic. Upon studying the brains of the animals she found that fluoride accumulated in the hippocampus and limbic areas of the brain which control behavior.
Upon presenting her findings to the National Institute of Health, she was scoffed at and dismissed. After her findings were published in a scientific journal, she was fired, her lab was destroyed and all the animals were incinerated to prevent her from pursuing this research on her own.
If you still think the fears surrounding water flouridation are unreasonable, you should look at the first time and place that water fluordation was implemented, innocently enough around Nazi-era Germany (I lied earlier about the sarcasm). Following WWII, the United States Government sent a research worker named Charles Eliot Perkins to Germany to take control of the vast chemical plants there which belonged to a chemical manufacturing company called I. G. Farben.
This company grew into a huge cartel, with which the aforementioned American Aluminum Company became involved with, when it began receiving loans from American bankers in the 1920s. By the way, three members of the board of directors of the company which handled I.G. Farben’s American holdings, American I.G. Farben, were convicted of war crimes following WWII.
At the I. G. Farben chemical plants, Perkins learned from the chemists there of a plan devised by I. G. Farben to fluoridate the water of all the Nazi-occupied countries during WWII. The German chemists explained how they aimed to control the population by putting fluoride in the drinking water to weaken the wills of the people and make them less resistant to occupation, and also how it had been used in Nazi and Russian P.O.W. camps to make the prisoners “stupid and docile”. Fluoride indeed is one of the strongest known anti-psychotic substances.
Fluoride is a waste product in the manufacture of fertilizers, aluminum, weapons and explosives. It is quite expensive to dispose of properly, and these indutries found a way long ago to make lemonade from lemons. They originated the myth and funded the “studies” that suggest flouride was good for oral health, and a cheap and profiitable way to dispose of mounting fluoride waste was implemented, us drinking it.
There has been disagreement on the statistics of how prevalent water fluoridation actually is. The vast majority of fluoridated water is in English-speaking countries. Most researchers agree upon the figures of 5% of the world’s drinking water being fluoridated, and over 50% of North America’s water being fluoridated.
It has been shown that fluoridated water does not improve dental health, as America is not in better dental health than any other nation that doesn’t fluoridate drinking water. Most European nations have either never implemented fluoridated drinking water or have banned it on eithical grounds. Why would our government allow something to persist for so long that has been shown to have such detrimental effects on the population?
