I’m not really sure what to think about them. I used to work with a guy who was all about infowars. He was a nice guy, but man, he was extremely paranoid about the government! He even had a bumper sticker on his car that said "infowars.com"

You might get some leads of actual good news stories, but the sites are highly suspect. A lot of what they say is right on as far as facts, but I don’t trust anyone who uses their format.

GRAFENWÖHR, Germany — Illinois National Guard troops, in Poland for the annual Immediate Response 2007 exercise, have few problems communicating with their Polish counterparts.

According to Capt. Krispa Jekielek, a logistics officer with the Guard, many of the U.S. soldiers exercising in Poland this month are fluent in Polish.

“The unique thing about this is that Poland is our partnership country for the state of Illinois. We have a lot of soldiers in the National Guard who are of Polish descent,” she said, adding that many are dual citizens acting as translators during the exercise.

A company-sized task force based around 1st Battalion 178th Infantry Regiment, Illinois National Guard is part of a contingent of almost 300 U.S. personnel participating in the training.

“I’m trying to find out more about my ancestry while I’m here and learn as much Polish as possible,” said Jekielek, whose great-grandfather went to the United States from Poland long before she was born.

U.S. troops in the exercise will have a chance to check out Polish culture during a visit to the small town of Wedrzyn after the training wraps up on Sunday, she said.

He owns several websites, has made several conspiracy theory movies, and is constantly harrassing government officials about said conspiracies.

His theories are rarely based in our reality. He believes in some vast conspiracy with the Illuminati, the Masons, "Skull and Bones", Bohemian Grove members, satanic cults, etc, who are all supposedly working towards creating a "New World Order".

He also happens to believe that 9-11 was an inside job perpetrated by the US government.

Anyone who knows anything about the history of the Masons and the Illuminati knows that Alex Jones is mistaken about nearly everything. He is paranoid and is basically the only one who believes in his theories, along with a few gullible teenagers on the internet.

I would be careful in believing what you read on Jones’ websites. Make sure you do some fact-checking with other sources not owned by Jones.

Spammers try to get around filtering software by mixing up their words with characters, etc. That’s why you’ll receive something that says "V!@gra" instead of "Viagra" as the spammer is trying to get past the initial filter. Good filtering programs keep up with current trends in avoidance tricks.

Many times, once a filtering program "flags" content, a human then reads the information to decide whether or not it is a risk to go in/out of the country.

Due to a variety of reasons, China blocks a lot of user-submitted information. This includes social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, as well as many blog sites, etc.

China’s government also blocks political and religious sites that they have deemed dangerous to their State government.

Yes, English-related content is monitored as well. Never underestimate the power of a government that has 1.4 billion people (with at least 50% of that number in the employable work force) to provide jobs for.

I do know that my text messages in northwest China are often screened. I will send a message and most of the time, it takes up to ten minutes for them to go out. I’m not sure why my messages are screened . . . my husband’s are not . . . but perhaps my screener likes my English and uses them as lessons. I don’t use shortcuts or use text lingo . . . I type full words! However, in spite of the screening, the messages always go through.

My husband’s cousin’s husband (in China) used to work in the internet screening (censorship) department of the military. He’s the source of my information. He has told us that "someone is always watching" so we should assume that everything is being read. This doesn’t necessarily mean that every word is read, but the chance is always there.
